SolarWinds announced the launch of its deep packet inspection (DPI) free tool SolarWinds Response Time Viewer for Wireshark, the latest to join more than 30 free tools from SolarWinds’ comprehensive IT management product family.

The SolarWinds Response Time Viewer for Wireshark free tool enhances the user experience for Wireshark, one of the most widely used free tools for DPI, by seamlessly providing automatic analysis and calculation of application and network response time as well as data and transaction volume derived from the Wireshark packet capture data. With this data insight, IT Pros can begin to determine if performance issues originate in the network or the application.

“Wireshark provides IT Pros with critical packet capture data at a microscopic level that can give them greater insight into what’s going on under-the-hood of their network, but IT Pros need to be able to assess and evaluate that data without spending hours calculating it manually,” said Chris LaPoint, vice president of product management, SolarWinds. “With SolarWinds Response Time Viewer for Wireshark, IT Pros can now quickly and automatically analyze this vital Wireshark data to help identify where slow response times originate – the application or the network – so they can efficiently resolve any issues causing poor user experience.”

SolarWinds Response Time Viewer for Wireshark is an easy-to-use desktop application that allows IT Pros to:

· Analyze common Wireshark packet capture files

· Calculate network and application response times

· Analyze and display data and transaction volume

For IT Pros seeking extended DPI technology and analysis plus network performance monitoring, SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM) is surprisingly affordable starting below $3,000, a fraction of the traditional enterprise cost.

With the addition of the new out-of-the-box DPI and analysis sensors, SolarWinds NPM provides a comprehensive view of network fault, performance, availability, traffic, and latency allowing network engineers to more effectively IDENTIFY, PRIORITIZE AND RESOLVE network issues before they impact application performance, end-users and the business.
