SolarWinds announced new and enhanced product offerings to help IT ensure optimal application performance by monitoring the complete application stack (AppStack) through a single pane of glass.

Specifically, the company introduced the new Storage Resource Monitor (SRM) and released significant updates to Server & Application Monitor (SAM), Virtualization Manager and Web Performance Monitor (WPM), including greater integration with SolarWinds’ Orion technology backbone and the new SolarWinds AppStack dashboard.

“Applications and the supporting IT infrastructure are the center of every business. When those applications and systems are slow and when access is not available, productivity comes to a halt, revenue opportunities are lost—businesses suffer. As such, IT pros cannot afford to continue trying to resolve application issues within disconnected silos,” said Nikki Jennings, Group VP, Systems Management Products, SolarWinds. “With these latest releases and the addition of the AppStack dashboard capability across our core systems management solutions, SolarWinds provides IT pros unparalleled top-to-bottom visibility of the application delivery chain—including storage, servers, virtualization, cloud, the Web and more—to better identify, prioritize and resolve application issues.”

NEW SolarWinds AppStack Dashboard

The new AppStack dashboard available in SolarWinds’ solutions presents the integrated monitoring of applications, servers, virtualization and storage resources — and Web user experience for Web-based applications — within a single pane of glass to show the health of each of these infrastructure components and how it may impact overall application performance. IT can easily identify an application showing compromised performance and instantly see which of the other components in the infrastructure may be causing the problem. SolarWinds’ Orion-supported software will enable users to design custom AppStack dashboards for individuals or teams to prioritize their monitoring while also maintaining broad visibility.

NEW SolarWinds Storage Resource Monitor

The new Storage Resource Monitor provides IT with the necessary insight into storage resources and the potential performance impact on virtual environments to ultimately ensure business-critical application performance. Storage Resource Monitor provides support for dozens of common arrays and features new NetApp Cluster-mode, as well as NetApp IBM N-series, NetApp E-series family, EMC VNX family, and Dell EqualLogic PS Series arrays, to name a few. With real-time visibility into heterogeneous SAN and NAS arrays and integration with the Orion technology and AppStack dashboard, an IT pro is able to view and manage an IT environment from array to application.

SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor with NEW cloud agent and AppInsight for IIS

In addition to integration into the AppStack dashboard, Server & Application Monitor now also enables IT to monitor business-critical server and application performance hosted in the cloud by services such as Amazon EC2, Rackspace, Microsoft Azure, or virtually any other Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). It collates this data alongside on-premises server and application performance all within a single tool to support hybrid cloud environments. In addition to its existing support for over 200 applications, SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor adds new AppInsight for IIS, providing optimal website performance with critical Microsoft IIS web server monitoring, identifying pages that take too long to process, and providing metrics and remediation capabilities for starting and stopping websites.

SolarWinds Virtualization Manager and Web Performance Monitor with NEW Orion technology backbone integration

Virtualization Manager and Web Performance Monitor now integrate directly with SolarWinds’ Orion technology backbone and the AppStack dashboard, enabling the sharing of critical performance metrics from these individual products with other modules already integrated. The integration of Virtualization Manager provides IT datastore-level detail that bridges the critical metrics from Storage Resource Monitor to Server & Application Monitor. The integration of Web Performance Monitor helps provide end-to-end performance monitoring for web-based environments.
