Splunk announced version 3.0 of the Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange.
The latest version, combined with Splunk Enterprise, provides real-time visibility into the health of the Microsoft Exchange environment, including message delivery components and the supporting IT infrastructure.
New out-of-the-box dashboards and reports in the app correlate Exchange, Active Directory and Windows operating systems data to enable proactive monitoring of the email service and provide deep visibility into usage and behavior to better inform capacity planning and maximize uptime.
Version 3.0 of the Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange will be generally available on April 15, 2014.
“The messaging infrastructure is critical to organizations of all sizes. A disruption in email can damage the reputation of an IT department or the entire organization through lost orders, broken customer communications and chaotic internal communications,” said Leena Joshi, senior director of infrastructure operations marketing, Splunk. “The new version of the Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange includes pre-built correlations between Microsoft Exchange data and data from supporting infrastructure, specifically Windows OS and Microsoft Active Directory. This delivers the most accurate picture of email service health, performance, security and user experience across the messaging infrastructure.”
Features of version 3.0 of the Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange include:
- Packaged Correlation and Operations Dashboards - Easily identify relationships among performance, health and security events using prebuilt dashboards and reports that span the email service.
- Dashboard Builder - Quickly and easily create, save and share custom reports of related services and components by simple querying on contextual information, such as “log outs”, “performance”, “health”, et cetera.
- Messaging Tracking - Provide breakdown of message flow, with dashboard views that provide administrators with important segmentation and load information about message flow, enabling message tracking from the desktop to the gateway.
- Client Behavior Monitoring and Capacity Planning - Provide in-depth visibility into how the messaging service is being utilized and display information about messaging volume and number of users the system is handling over time to help plan for growth.
- End-to-End Visibility - Correlate data across Exchange and non-Exchange message delivery components such as proxy servers and firewalls to uncover anomalies that can impact performance and security.
