End-to-end Application Performance Management (APM) is the "gold standard" in application monitoring, according to a new survey and infographic titled The State of APM from Germain Software.

The State of APM infographic — featuring visual content that details responses from a September 2013 survey of IT professionals managing multiple applications in an enterprise environment — shows the impact that APM software has on the overall success of an IT organization and the continuous optimal performance and availability of complex business applications.

The survey also expressed the critical importance of availability of applications such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and eCommerce, and states that more than 43% of IT organizations receive reports of significant performance issues weekly – primarily via end users and not the monitoring tools in place.

While end-to-end APM is desirable, the survey found that many IT organizations use a combination of tools to monitor their critical applications. Because of this, 74% of IT professionals surveyed express difficulty in correlating data from complex combinations of disparate monitoring tools.
