Sentry Releases Beta of Span-Based Tracing and Metrics Model

Sentry introduced a new spans-based tracing and metrics model to the platform that connects all data associated with bugs to quickly identify debug any issue.

Debugging a full application stack is a significant challenge for software developers that use tools which rely solely on metrics. Metrics alone do not provide the necessary context to quickly identify and resolve the root cause of broken code. Spans tracing and metrics delivers a solution that connects all pieces of data – errors, replays, spans, profiles, and metrics – into a single workflow to make swift and accurate decisions to rectify the issue.

"Observability has received a lot of attention in recent years but simply observing doesn't help developers solve problems – especially when they are inundated with loads of non-actionable data," said CEO Milin Desai. "We built Sentry to help developers take action and solve bugs, errors, and other issues, and that's the philosophy we carried into our approach to building a new spans-first tracing and metrics experience."

Sentry spans tracing and metrics is available now in beta.
