Catchpoint Systems announced a significant expansion of its global web and mobile performance monitoring locations to 206 backbone nodes.
Deploying over 30 new backbone nodes in the first quarter of 2014, with an emphasis on Eastern Europe and Asia-Pacific, Catchpoint now offers 206 backbone measurement locations, in addition to 60 last-mile locations and 47 wireless 3G and 4G nodes worldwide.
26 new backbone measurement nodes deployed in Russia will help Catchpoint customers leverage this important growth region.
With 6 new locations bringing the China total to 18, Catchpoint now has a total of 41 live nodes in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
The company also added 11 critical last-mile connections in France, United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Additional nodes will be added in the second quarter.
Catchpoint Global Backbone Monitoring Locations (Nodes): The 206 Catchpoint backbone monitoring locations, as of May 1, are located in the following regions:
Asia-Pacific 41
Europe 42
Russia 26
North America 78
Middle East 13
South America 6
Cellular Network Monitoring: Since visibility into web applications across global cellular networks is critical in this mobile device age, Catchpoint now has nodes with multiple cellular carriers, including within major US cities with Sprint, ATT, Verizon and TMobile.
Catchpoint’s wireless nodes can monitor performance on mobile devices, as well as non-mobile web applications, APIs used by mobile apps, mobile and digital outdoor advertising, mobile commerce, and machine-to-machine (M2M) technology.
Ipv6 Compatibility: Catchpoint also now has 20 dedicated IPv6-compatible nodes in the US with 28 more IPV6 nodes coming online this year. Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is replacing IPv4 as the new communications protocol due to the limited number of remaining IPv4 addresses. IPv6 adds complexity to how browsers and devices connect and how web services are accessed.
