Elastic, the company behind open source projects Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana, announced expansion into Asia Pacific and Japan, with Hong Kong as its strategic headquarters.
Robert Lau has also been appointed as the Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific and Japan to drive the company’s growth and presence across the region and will be based in Hong Kong. In his role, Robert will be responsible for overseeing the company’s continued growth and rapid expansion across Asia Pacific. Lau brings a wealth of international expertise to Elastic with 17 years of experience helping Silicon Valley companies establish their presence across the Asia Pacific region. Most recently, he spent seven years as Splunk’s VP and GM.
Initial momentum in the region includes:
- A rapidly growing developer community with 3,000+ members across cities including: Auckland, Bangalore, Beijing, Delhi, Melbourne, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei, Tokyo, and Wellington.
- An enthusiastic customer, user and partner ecosystem including companies such as: Fujitsu, Haylix, Katana1, Lexer, Movideo, Rozetta Technology, SEEK Ltd, Selera, Sixtree, and Xero, among others.
