ScienceLogic has named Antonio Piraino as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Piraino will guide ScienceLogic’s IT management vision and product strategy as well elevate the company’s influence with service provider, enterprise and federal customers.
“Antonio is an ideal addition to our executive team because he embodies the expertise, spirit and focus on service provider and enterprise IT management needs that have permeated the ScienceLogic culture since our founding,” said David Link, ScienceLogic CEO. “With his rare combination of technical and market knowledge, Antonio will help ScienceLogic accelerate our growth in service provider, enterprise and federal markets that need to centrally manage IT services across data center and cloud infrastructures. He will serve as a catalyst to advise our service provider customers in particular about how to use our products to rapidly introduce new service offerings and revenue streams while reducing operational costs.”
Most recently, Piraino served as VP and Research Director for Tier1 Research, a division of The 451 Group, where he focused on data center, hosting and cloud computing technology research. Piraino provided insight to service provider and enterprise clients through market analysis, quarterly and annual research reports, and advisory services.
He is a frequent speaker at managed hosting, virtualization, and cloud computing conferences and has delivered numerous keynote speeches at events such as the 2011 Hosting and Cloud Transformation Summit and HostingCon 2011.
“The gold rush is on to build cloud computing infrastructures and what I have undoubtedly seen from an industry analyst perspective is that management of these increasingly complex systems is going to be the key to success,” said Piraino. “Especially as a flood of private cloud migrations occur over the next five years, I believe ScienceLogic has the most needed approach to helping customers master this transition via a management solution that enables them to manage compute anywhere.”
Prior to Tier1 Research, Piraino was a technical manager for gaming software development firm Derivco. Before becoming an analyst he spent many years in IT, working for enterprises and service providers in the U.S. and abroad. His career history includes roles at Telecom Italia, China Telecom, BCE Teleglobe and Akamai.
Originally from South Africa, Piraino has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Natal and holds an International MBA from Georgetown University. He is also a member of The Society of Industry Professionals. He will be based out of the ScienceLogic headquarters in Reston, Va.
ScienceLogic co-founder and former CTO Chris Cordray moves into the Chief Scientist role at the company, where he continues to develop and drive the software architecture behind the award-winning ScienceLogic management platform.
