New Relic, a provider of SaaS-based cloud application performance management, partnered with PagerDuty, an alarm dispatching service for system administrators and support teams.
New Relic and PagerDuty have integrated their services to provide customers with enhanced alerting on web application performance via phone call and SMS messaging. New Relic customers can now trigger, acknowledge, and resolve incidents directly in PagerDuty.
PagerDuty is an alarm dispatching and on-call management service for system administrators and support teams. PagerDuty collects alerts from your business's existing monitoring tools and calls or SMSes the engineer on duty if there's a problem. PagerDuty provides sophisticated on-call management features typically found only in high-price enterprise solutions. Its on-call schedules, alarm escalations, telephone alerts, and phone-based incident management ensure that IT support staff are rapidly notified of any system problem.
The enhanced integration with New Relic proactively alerts application teams of potential issues in real time to enable rapid triage and remediation of performance issues before they affect end users.
"The addition of PagerDuty as a key integration partner adds a critical capability to New Relic's alerting system, creating a complete on-call web application management tool," said Bill Lapcevic, New Relic's VP of Business Development. "New Relic users are now able to triage and fix problems more quickly and minimize expensive application downtime."
"The New Relic integration allows developers and sysadmins to find out about critical problems in their web application stack faster, potentially even in the middle of the night." said Alex Solomon, PagerDuty's CEO. "Being able to receive phone and SMS alerts when a component of our web stack breaks is really valuable; our engineering team has been using this internally for over two months, so we know from experience."
To get started, users need a New Relic Standard or Pro subscription and a PagerDuty account. Then, they can authorize the PagerDuty integration by following a few simple steps. Once authorized, customers can select the escalation policy to use for New Relic incidents.
