Shunra Integrates Social Media with NetworkCatcher Express Mobile App

Shunra is adding social media sharing capabilities to its free NetworkCatcher Express Mobile app.

Users now have the option to share real-time, real-world mobile network conditions with their Twitter and LinkedIn networks.

“NetworkCatcher Express Mobile is a great tool for application developers, testers, and anyone interested in learning more about the real-world behavior of websites on a mobile network,” said Bill Varga, COO of Shunra. “With the new social elements of the app, we envision a community of shared data points that will allow businesses and individuals to make critical decisions based on mobile network conditions. If I know from my social network that a convention center exhibits poor network conditions across a series of vital websites, I can choose to host my user conference in a different location where there are not connectivity or performance issues. Doing so will save my user/client base frustration and save my company’s reputation for holding an event in a mobile dead zone.”

To gain these business critical insights, users simply download the app and select a test destination – any addressable domain or IP address can be tested. The app will connect via the mobile network to the selected destination and measure packet loss, downstream bandwidth, and network latency.

Once it captures these network conditions, NetworkCatcher Express Mobile displays the results graphically on a results page. An email of summary network conditions and specific impairment measurements can be sent for analysis. In addition, users can now share these results on Twitter and LinkedIn directly from the results menu.

The updated app is available immediately through the App Store and will be available shortly on Google Play.
