SolarWinds Launches Sysadmin Day Contest

SolarWinds launched the Sysadmin Day Contest, in which IT pros can create memes portraying life as a sysadmin and earn a chance to a win a Microsoft Surface RT tablet with Touch Cover keyboard, Samsung Chromebook 3G and $100 ThinkGeek.com gift card.

"IT pros share a unique bond in that few people get what they really do -- except other IT pros," said Michael Torok, thwack community director. "Sysadmin Day and SolarWinds' contest offer IT pros an occasion to come together to celebrate what is so unique, obnoxious, or even fantastic about their jobs and to have fun with it."

The SolarWinds Sysadmin Day Contest calls on IT pros to share fun, funny, and ridiculous anecdotes of their lives in IT by crafting memes and sharing them on thwack, SolarWinds' community site where IT pros ask questions, exchange tips and tricks, and share geeky content.

A meme, as most geeks know, is an image-and-text file typically used humorously and often spread via social media. The Sysadmin Day Contest offers thwack users two chances to win:

1. They can fill in the popular "What My [Blank] Thinks I Do" meme template

or

2. They can add creative text to a provided IT image.

Which IT Meme Reigns Supreme?

Starting July 1, IT pros can submit an unlimited number of entries in either meme category. Then, members of the thwack community will vote for the best meme overall.

The entry with most votes will receive a Microsoft Surface RT tablet with Touch Cover keyboard.

The second and third place entries will receive a Samsung Chromebook 3G and $100 gift card to ThinkGeek.com, respectively.

In addition, entrants can earn thwack points by sharing their memes on Facebook and Twitter.

Entries must be received by 12 p.m. CDT on Thursday, July 25, 2013. The top three meme entries will be announced at 12 p.m. CDT Friday, July 26, 2013, which marks the 14th annual Sysadmin Day.

Participants must be legal residents of the United States and at least eighteen (18) years old to be entered to win.
