VMware released Hyperic 5.0.
This release which enjoyed a lengthy open beta process that started earlier this summer, is the most performant, stable release of Hyperic to date and also establishes it as a fully integrated part of VMware’s vFabric cloud application platform.
This release marks the culmination of several releases to better integrate Hyperic into VMware’s overall vFabric Suite.
The new version delivers plugins to monitor and manage other VMware vFabric products such as tc Server 2.7, Web Server 5.1, and GemFire 6.6.2 and Gemfire 7 (vFabric Hyperic only). It also contains a major change for current users to change the backend database to standardize on PostgreSQL, a VMware supported project.
Embedded with vFabric Postgres 9.1, or vPostgres, vFabric Hyperic 5.0 can now also be installed as an appliance. For users who wish to use the open source version of PostgreSQL, it can also be installed and attached to the Hyperic application independently.
