Entuity Integrates Enterprise Class Network Management with Dell Foglight APM

The Entuity 15.5 Event Management System (EMS) now allows incident/event integration directly with the Dell Foglight APM solution.

This integration is easily configured via the Entuity EMS Web UI. Events and incidents can be automatically forwarded so that Foglight users benefit from visibility into the current status of – and issues with – the network, in addition to then leveraging hyperlinks directly back into Entuity for network troubleshooting and performance tuning. As such, the integration adds the full power of a world-class network management system to the Foglight APM solution. While Dell’s Performance Monitoring solutions have become widely used as application and virtualization monitoring tools across multiple technologies, the Entuity integration complements Dell’s Foglight APM solution with full featured network management capabilities.

It has been reported several times by industry analysts during the last few years that network issues can be the root cause of up to 50% of application performance problems. This means that without deep network insight, up to half of the time APM solutions may be blind to the main cause of application performance issues.

Entuity is known for its openness and automated data sharing capabilities that integrate with complementary solutions. This collaboration makes it simple to share network data with the rest of the IT environment. Entuity automatically collects deep, broad, timely, and integrated network data, and passes it on in an intelligent, filtered manner to Dell Foglight APM. This allows network information, including real-time events, status information and metrics, to be correlated with other IT components managed in Dell Foglight APM. In addition, network administrators can drill down into Entuity using unique call-back hyperlinks for deeper investigation into network activity that may be related to the raised event or incident.

According to Jeff Roper, Entuity CTO, “Event correlation is always on the minds of network managers and their staff. By integrating the power of Entuity with the monitoring capabilities of Dell Foglight APM, we are bringing unprecedented value to our customers by complementing Foglight’s application and virtualization monitoring with a full network management system to provide a more complete picture of application and infrastructure behavior.”
