AppSense announced DesktopNow Plus version 10, a new release of the company’s flagship suite for endpoint security, IT control and user experience optimization.
Offering new features to reduce IT risk and workload related to Windows 10 migrations and data consolidation, DesktopNow Plus now also delivers greater infrastructure visibility and improved performance and control, with lower resource requirements and zero user disruption.
DesktopNow Plus is a comprehensive user environment management solution that enables IT to balance desktop control and user productivity. With DesktopNow Plus, IT can simplify and streamline desktop deployment and management for physical, virtual and cloud-delivered desktops, delivering a personalized, compliant desktop regardless of location or device, while reducing both IT capital and operational costs. New features in the release further reduce endpoint security risk, eliminate Windows 10 migration and data consolidation challenges, and empower user productivity through an enhanced, more personalized desktop experience.
Working to mitigate endpoint security risk, DesktopNow Plus v10 enables IT or InfoSec personnel to create customized endpoint policies guided by production data utilizing new report filter, sorting, and grouping capabilities and new reports that track and pinpoint non-compliant end user behavior. The suite also provides more options for granular application control and least privilege access and management so IT can create rules that address any desktop scenario and use case. With users becoming more mobile, DesktopNow Plus v10 controls users’ web browser and SaaS application policies to enable users to work securely from anywhere.
DesktopNow Plus v10 is uniquely designed to ease the constant state of migration brought on by Microsoft’s faster release cadence. Improved reporting allows IT to develop cost-effective action plans for time-consuming initiatives such as desktop refresh and Windows 10/application upgrades. New Windows client endpoint sync controls support enablement and configuration of a large number of endpoints prior to sync activity. Data migrations can be simplified and controlled with new features including file sync visibility and the ability to automatically start, pause or resume sync on a Windows client. For Microsoft applications support, DesktopNow Plus v10 offers easier Microsoft Outlook setup, an Office 2016/365 Application Group & Windows Settings Personalization Template and support for Windows 10 Credential Guard and Start Menu customizations.
DesktopNow Plus v10 provides new features that enable IT to improve end users’ computing experience, including more personalization options, enhanced drive and printer mapping, and support for IP-based printers and automatic personalization removal. The suite also delivers up to 50% reduction in logon times when using Windows Personalization to capture large numbers of small files, such as cookies. File sync updates include improvements to Windows client mapped drives and disruption-free client synchronization of Microsoft Outlook PST files.
For IT, DesktopNow Plus v10 offers a new server configuration portal that centralizes management of local DTN server instances via a single web browser page, enabling prompt response to user issues from anywhere at any time. The portal also supports multi-user operations so IT can better delegate user environment management administrative workload. Other new time-saving features include unlimited control functionality, easier workflows, enhanced rule customization, and task delay to reduce server load.
“With DesktopNow Plus v10, we are once again proving that reducing endpoint security risk and ensuring a great user experience are not mutually exclusive,” said Jon Rolls, VP of Product Management for AppSense. “This new release will dramatically reduce IT risk and workload related to Windows 10 migration and data consolidation projects. In addition, it provides IT more visibility than ever into their endpoint environment’s security, performance and compliance.”
