Ipanema Technologies launched updates to its AppsWork service so that customers get more features and functionality.

This announcement follows a successful launch of the service in the US in April this year with customers in the UK benefitting through a partnership with Ingram Micro EMEA, the world’s largest technology distributor, announced last month.

AppsWork allows SMEs to guarantee application performance over the network. For a few dollars per user per month, businesses can take full advantage of any application, including cloud and internet-based, with guaranteed performance and full application visibility. At the same time, users will be avoiding concerns around end-user experience, reliability and the costs associated with on-premise and cloud-based business applications.

In its latest iteration, AppsWork will allow users to accelerate traffic over the WAN whilst still guaranteeing critical application performance. This new feature is an option that SMEs are likely to activate only on certain sites where large files are exchanged using specific protocols. The WAN Optimization feature mitigates the impact of delay for chatty applications like Common Internet File System (CIFS) and Windows File Transfer.

The main benefits are increased available bandwidth and reduced application transfer time hence significantly enhancing the application user experience.

“Our recent research, ‘Killer Apps 2012’, showed us that networks throughout Europe were experiencing significant performance problems due to blind spots around the applications being run across them," said Rogier van der Wal, Vice President Cloud Services, Ipanema Technologies. "At Ipanema Technologies, we believe we’ve developed an easy-to-use service that empowers small and medium sized enterprises to get the most out of what on-premise and cloud apps offer without having to worry about application performance. But the technology industry is a super-fast paced one and we’ll be innovating, updating and upgrading to ensure our customers can continue to achieve their business objectives.”

AppsWork leverages a local appliance together with cloud-based services based on the industry leading cloud platform while scalable hosting is provided in compliancy with SAS 70.

AppsWork is available in the USA and UK now through Ingram Micro’s partner channel.
