Zenoss announced the latest version of its OpenStack Infrastructure ZenPack, along with a new ZenPack for Open vSwitch, adding support for OpenStack Neutron networking infrastructures.

As referenced in The 2014 State of the Open Source Cloud, research conducted by Zenoss that focused on the evolving open source cloud market, there was 72% growth in open source cloud adoption between 2012 and 2014. The survey also highlighted the increasing dominance of OpenStack as 69% of respondents who use an open source cloud use the OpenStack platform. For those building and managing OpenStack-based clouds, ensuring IT service delivery requires an understanding of the status and health of both the OpenStack components as well as the underlying physical infrastructure. Zenoss Service Dynamics provides cloud operators with a unified view of their logical and physical cloud infrastructure. With its OpenStack ZenPacks, Zenoss supports managing OpenStack from both the cloud user and cloud provider perspectives.

The new release of the OpenStack Infrastructure ZenPack adds support for OpenStack Networking to the existing Compute support. Leveraging facilities provided by OpenStack’s Nova compute, Neutron networking, Ceilometer telemetry, and Keystone identity services, along with Zenoss’ broad support for applications, compute and networking hardware, OS, and hypervisor technologies, the ZenPack affords cloud operators visibility to their OpenStack infrastructure and services, and the ability to quickly diagnose and remediate issues that might threaten delivery of services to their customers.

“Zenoss customers are increasingly adopting OpenStack to ensure flexible, agile delivery of IT services to their customers,” said Marcus MacNeill, VP of Product Management at Zenoss. “By combining OpenStack components, applications, and infrastructure in a unified monitoring platform, Zenoss provides unequalled insight into the performance of OpenStack clouds and the potential impacts of infrastructure issues on the IT services they support."
